Grapes
The Roots of Little Forest Owl

As a little girl growing up in London, I spent time watching my grandmother tend to her garden. Those memories, along with early experiences of the countryside, planted the seed of something deeper in me. I didn’t realise it at the time, but that exposure sparked a lifelong passion for growing food, nurturing the land, and living more sustainably.

Today, I’m a horticulturist specialising in sustainable food growing, and I’m most at home when surrounded by plants I’ve grown from seed. There’s something powerful about guiding a seed from soil to harvest, and it’s even more rewarding to help others do the same. I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge so individuals and communities can cultivate their own gardens and grow nourishing food for their families.

My work is deeply influenced by my childhood, and I find joy in blending the calm of nature with the energy of city life. Whether I’m teaching others to grow their own food, running community sessions, or mentoring trainees, my aim is always the same: to inspire people to reconnect with the earth and rediscover the joy of growing.

Beyond horticulture, I’m a creative at heart. I enjoy knitting and sketching, often capturing moments from my travels, and I recently contributed an illustrated piece and a traditional Waulking song to a community book project. For me, it’s another way to honour the earth and create things that feel personal, intentional, and rooted in care.

Travel plays a big part in my life too. I’m drawn to the UK’s hidden natural gems, woodland walks, coastal paths, and quiet countryside retreats. Some of my most memorable trips include visiting the Highlands and exploring London’s many green spaces, always looking for inspiration.

And then there’s the night sky. I’ve been fascinated by astronomy ever since I first saw the Milky Way on an England countryside trip. Living in London doesn’t offer many stargazing opportunities, but one day I hope to witness the Northern Lights in person.

I’m a city person, but nature is at the heart of who I am. Through my work in food growing and sustainability, I aim to make a difference, one garden, one workshop, one seed at a time.
